Hand Painted Tole (Iron) Trays
The word “tole” (from the French) is defined in the dictionary as painted metal. The metal used in our tole trays is heavy gauge iron. They measure 20 inches in diameter, and can be used either functionally as serving trays, or decoratively on a hutch or even, as some of our customers do, hung on a wall with plate hangers.
But the best way to sell them is to set them up on the 21-inch wooden legs that we also offer (TOL-999 or TOL-777). This has three advantages. First, it converts the trays into charming small occasional tables, thus appealing to customers who might have no interest in a tray, but would like a small table that, being beautifully decorated and painted by hand, is a real conversation-piece.
Second, setting the trays up on legs also offers our retail customers a means of displaying the tray. And third, our customers have informed us that they achieve a higher mark-up merchandising this product as a small occasional table rather than as a tray.
The trays are varnished to make them impervious to alcohol and water. We offer a wide variety of styles to suit any decor.
